As a gambler in the US, you will want to find out where it is legal to engage in gambling online. While the government allows each state to regulate online gambling, only a limited number of states have passed laws. If you are interested in playing casino online for real money and want to access US-based casino sites, you can learn where you can play right here.

While there are still limited options, these states do provide a good selection of online casinos with bonus deal offers for players. Other states are considering passing laws that would regulate online casinos, though no concrete dates have been set.

New Jersey

New Jersey was one of the first states to pass laws that allowed online casinos to operate within the borders. In 2013, the first casino launched and today, there are more than 30 online casinos operating in New Jersey. Some of the top brands players can find include FanDuel, Golden Nugget, DraftKings, and Caesars. All online casinos in the state are regulated by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

New Jersey has the largest online gambling industry in the country and new sites are always entering the market. The latest sites to begin operating have been Bally Casino and Betway. There are plans for new sites to launch in 2022, including PlayOJO and PlayStar Casino.

Michigan is one of the newer states to pass legislation and websites launched in 2021. There are currently over 12 different apps and websites available for residents of the state.

To engage in real money play, you must be of the legal gambling age and be located within the borders of Michigan. Some big names are available, including WynnBet and Caesars. The operating casinos are issued licensed from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

Pennsylvania had plans to enter the iGaming market a few years ago, but final laws were not passed until 2019. At that time, just two online casinos became available.

Over the last few years, Pennsylvania has welcomed many other operators and there are now more than 12 casinos available for players to enjoy. The latest site to launch is Betway which has partnered with Live! Casino Philadelphia. The site went live in January 2022.

Other options that provide great games and secure environments include:

  • BetMGM
  • Caesars
  • Unibet
  • DraftKings
  • FanDuel
  • Stars Casino
  • Borgata
  • Hollywood Casio
  • BetRivers
  • Sugarhouse
  • Parx Casino
  • Wind Creek
  • BetAmerica
  • Stardust Casino

West Virginia

When it comes to online betting, West Virginia has some great options. It was one of the first states to allow for legal online sports betting and residents can also enjoy the thrills of casino games online.

There are currently four operating casinos in the state and there are plans for more to enter the market. All online operators are regulated by the West Virginia Lottery Commission.

The four options for residents include:

  • DraftKings Casino
  • BetMGM
  • BetRivers
  • FanDuel

Delaware has been offering online gambling since 2013 and with New Jersey, was among the first in the country to present an online option for residents. All online casinos are in-house offerings and the three state casinos are powered by 888. The size of the state places limits on expansion and no new casinos have launched in Delaware in recent years.

In 2021, Connecticut became another state to legalize online gambling, offering two casino options and an online poker platform. There are no commercial casinos operating in Connecticut. The only casinos are tribal and two have partnered with online casino operators to provide gaming platforms. The online casinos are up and running, but the legalized poker room has yet to be launched. Residents have the ability to play at the Mohegan Sun Online Casino, powered by FanDuel, or the DraftKings Online Casino.
