After waiting for quite some time, residents of Louisiana are happy to learn that they will soon have access to legal sports betting within the state. The new law was approved by State Congress and sportsbooks are now able to apply for licenses that will be issued through the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. With a possibility of 41 online sites and 20 retail betting locations being licensed, residents will have many sports betting opportunities and will enjoy the thrills of their favorite sporting events.

Betting Options Ahead in LA

Once operators are able to obtain licenses, they will be able to launch either online or retail locations that will accept legal real money wagers. The latest law allows for both land and online betting. Those that have been engaging in online betting in other states will soon be able to bet right in Louisiana as there are 4 sites expected to launch in the next few months and early next year. All of the operating retail casinos in the state will be able to apply for 2 licenses and one will be granted to the Louisiana State Lottery.

At this time, there are 20 casinos and race tracks that are regulated by the state and there are also three tribal casinos operating. All of these can receive licenses to offer retail sports betting. If you are awaiting the launch of the first sportsbook in Louisiana, you may have to wait a few months, but once licenses are granted, you can expect many sites to start offering online options and retail betting sites to open.

Some of the top names you can expect to enter the industry include:

  • DraftKings
  • BetMGM
  • FoxBet
  • PointsBet
  • William Hill
  • FanDuel

What to Expect

When sports betting does become available, bettors will have many options. Unlike other states in the US like NJ, Louisiana will not restrict wagers being placed on college events and teams based on the state. This allows individuals to bet on their favorite college games and have some super chances to generate profits. In addition to in-state college games and teams, the sportsbooks that launch will support bets on all major sports.

You can expect to find the ability to bet on the following:

  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • NHL
  • NFL
  • Motorsports
  • MMA
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Rugby
  • Darts
  • Soccer

These are just a few of the sports that will be featured. Some of the online sites currently operating in other states have over 25 sports supported, so you can expect a wide range of options.

Not only will members be able to ager on professional amateur, and college sports, but will find many types of bets that can be placed on events. The bets will vary based on what sports are selected but you will find sportsbooks in Louisiana offering money lines, parlays, teasers, pleasers, over/under, exotics, and so much more.

Betting Bonuses

As soon as the first online sportsbook is launched in the state, bettors will be able to take advantage of some great betting bonuses. Sites will be competing to attract new members and you will find some amazing deals for risk-free bets and even match bonuses. Each site will have different promotional offers and they will not stop at welcome deals.

With top names due to enter the industry, members will be able to take advantage of insurance bets, odds boosters, and other great promos that will enhance the betting experience and offer more ways to wager and win!

Get ready for an exciting betting experience in the state of Louisiana. The new laws are already in the books and it is time for operators to start applying for licenses. You can expect to see the first sportsbooks launch in time for the upcoming NFL season.
